Pupeye’s Sweet Puptato

Did you know that adding olive oil to your dog’s diet comes with extreme benefits?  Olive oil can help reduce inflammation in dogs and ease the itching associated with allergies. With that being said, we developed a special blend for dogs containing spinach, carrots, and sweet potatoes, Pupeye’s Sweet Puptato!

In addition to the benefits these vegetables contain, some other benefits include:

  • Prevents cardiovascular disease and diabetes – Because it contains monounsaturated fats, olive oil prevents and lessens the effects of cardiovascular disease and diabetes. If heart disease or diabetes is a concern for your dog, consult your vet about how to use olive oil to reduce their risk.
  • Helps manage your dog’s weight – The monounsaturated fat in olive oil can help dogs who are overweight shed some unwanted pounds. The addition of olive oil may also help your dog feel full longer because of the (good) fat.
  • Good for skin and coat – Olive oil can and moisture to your dog’s skin and coat. However, it is not advised to give topically as your dog will probably just lick it off.
  • Boosts immune systemThe high level of antioxidants — including polyphenols, vitamin E, chlorophyll and carotenoids helps boost your dog’s immune system and make them less likely to be impacted by common illnesses.
  • Protects joints – If you have an older dog or one who is very athletic, olive oil might be a great choice to keep them in their daily activities for as long as they can!

Dosage:

The recommended dosage is no more than one teaspoon per 20 pounds of your dog’s weight, per meal. This can be mixed in with either wet or dry food.

Please make sure to start with a smaller dose initially to avoid possible side effects such as weight gain, vomiting, and diarrhea.

As always, consult your vet with any questions or concerns that you may have.
